I grew up in Bassett, VA and have lived most of my post-academic life in Bristow, VA with my wife and two children. I studied and played baseball at Ferrum College receiving a B.S. degree in Physical Education and Sports Medicine. The next two years were spent attending James Madison University where I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant while earning a M.S. degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
I then accepted a position working for a medical-based fitness and wellness center and quickly moved into the role of Fitness Director. After many years of serving in this role, I decided it was time to continue my education. I continued my full-time position while earning an MBA in Healthcare Management from the University of Scranton.
When I am not working to improve the health of the Commonwealth of Virginia workforce, I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my wonderful family. In my spare time, you may also find me coaching my kid’s sports teams, playing golf, weight lifting, hunting, and anything and everything outdoors.
Working in the healthcare industry throughout my career has been an extremely rewarding experience. I consider myself very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to provide a positive impact on my patients over the years. CommonHealth allows me to continue pursuing my passion for improving the lives of others. As a Regional CommonHealth Coordinator, I am able to provide state employees the healthcare resources that are needed to maintain or reach optimal health.
What do you love most about your job?
The most rewarding part of this job is when you receive positive feedback from a state employee regarding their health improvements. This is when you know you are truly making a difference.
