Weight Watchers
The Commonwealth of Virginia offers Weight Watchers at special pricing to state employees, spouses and adult dependents. Weight Watchers is a pilot program for eligible participants through Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, the medical plan administrator for the state health benefits program. Visit Weight Watchers on this site for information on the program options, special offerings and how to join. Employees eligible for the health benefits program may also be reimbursed for half the cost of services, once they have completed program requirements.
Who is Eligible
Special pricing is available to state employees, spouses and adult dependents for Weight Watchers services. Reimbursement for half of the cost of Weight Watchers services before taxes is open only to employees currently eligible to enroll in state health plans (COVA Care, COVA Connect, COVA HDHP and Kaiser Permanente HMO). Reimbursement is not open to retirees, the spouses or dependents of employees or retirees, or to The Local Choice health plan members. To be reimbursed, employees must complete the participation requirements of a Weight Watchers program.

For Volunteers: Setting Up an At-Work Program
If you are a Weight Watchers volunteer, you may set up an at-work meeting when you know you have enough employee interest (at least 20 employees). Call 1-800-8-AT WORK (1-800-828-9675) and a local At-Work Manager will help you. Only state employees may attend an at-work meeting – no spouses, dependents or non-state employees. Participants pay in the meeting room by check or credit card. For more information, visit the Weight Watchers Power Point Presentation.
